Distance Learning Courses[Print a Copy]
Distance learning is the ideal solution for anyone wanting to train as a news journalist, features writer, freelance writer or creative writer without having to juggle an existing career or other commitments. Simply by studying at home and corresponding regularly with your tutor you can set yourself on the path to knowledge and success - all while working at your own pace.

Internet Journalism Short Course

The Internet Journalism course is designed to give an understanding of both the technical means of creating web content as well as training in the art of being a freelance supplier to the web, to those with a limited knowledge (or even no knowledge) of the way the web works.

The course covers the basic building blocks of HTML and web design – enough to build your own website to showcase your work – as well as providing more detailed and sophisticated content, which can be optimised for search engines and presentation.  Once the web functionality is covered, the course deals with the basics of freelance writing – not just with a web-centric viewpoint – and then covers the specific and separate functions of the internet based freelance writer.

This version of the IJC course can only be taken by those LSJ students who have already completed the Freelance and Feature writing course. New students must take the complete IJC course.  In order to complete the course you will need access to the web and a browser such as MS Explorer or Netscape versions 5.0 or higher.
